Fairhope is going Uptown

You heard it here first. Another Broken Egg is coming to FAIRHOPE!! I went walking in Fairhope this morning for the first time in I cannot remember when. Stupidly I did not take my camera, so here is what is new:

The building across from the hardware store burned. It is being renovated and/or torn down. A new building will house Another Broken Egg.

The FUDGE shop is gone. It has been replaced with a bistro that serves homemade Cinnamon rolls and other such things.

Mary Ann's lunch spot moved out, Church Street Cafe moved into their spot and they are CLOSING tommorow.

The Tudor Mansion was torn down and replaced with a building that has stores on the first floor, condos on floors two and three. The Bay Breeze Cafe is in there.

The building where Old Bay Steamer was located was torn down and a fancy looking Italian building is there with an Italian Eatery that opened two weeks ago.

Then of course there is the new hugh Fairhope Library. It was crawling with people this morning. In fact, Fairhope was crawling with people. Not sure if the little town will survive all these changes. It looks more and more like Sonoma every day.

The life of an Actor

On our first morning in Santa Fe we were out early on the hunt for Expresso. There was a group of really stylishly dressed people with perfect makeup and hair hanging around the New Mexico museum of Fine Art. So I had to ask what was going on. I was told they were shooting a commercial. It was 20 degrees outside with a good wind and they were all outside in the cold waiting for the film crew to arrive.

Later I watched them begin to shoot the commercial. They were a group of white hip looking people gathered in front of stage listening to a white musical group. On the street behind them, mostly out of view, was a long row of american indian people selling their jewelry and other crafts.

Random Thoughts on Cirque in Vegas

Sometimes I feel guilty about having random thoughts because I have a lovely DIL that creates a really nice blog on that subject!!

As I watched four lovely young women perform splits and other graceful moves high above the stage the question popped into my head. They are dressed in WHITE outfits, tight White outfits. How do they manage to perform all month??? You know what I mean????

Vegas

I was feeling the affects of sitting in the car all day. I had to ask Patrick to open my water bottle. I can hardly walk and drink coffee at the same time. Then I sit down to watch the Beatles Love and watch a women with long red hair decend from the top of the theater suspended on one arm.

Amazing is not a big enough word for the Cirq. The timing of these people, the stage changing, the costume changing and the high wire acrobatics were unbelievable. We had a great time at the Mirage in Vegas. There is even a special section of slot machines out side the Love theater where they play Beatle music.

There were also three VW beetles used in the show.

Traveling Down I-5 or "This is no place for children or dogs"

I was so happy not to have little children with me when traveling on I-5 last sunday. It seems I had decided to start our trip back to Alabama on the busiest travel day of the year. There was lots of bumper to bumper traffic. The rest stops were full of people traffic jammed to get in.

Thanks Paul and Andrea for the Tip about Kettleman. We stopped there for the In and Out. If we had not stopped there we would have starved!! Poor people coming from Southern California could not hardly get off that exit.

At Kettleman I watched people take their dogs out of the car to do their business on big hills of construction dirt.

This is a new blog I am working on. I decided I would organize all the house renovations into one place. We moved into this house full of $9.00 lighting fixtures and cheap $1.75 a yard carpet, miserable thin vinyl floors etc. almost 10 years ago. So I am going to put everything together in the new blog.

I worked for years in Information Technology with all kinds of technical stuff. This blog formatting is driving me crazy so I will be working on that as I add to the builder house blog.
